Mardi Gras Knitting

Rachel helped me sign up for an Alice in Wonderland swap this weekend, and I'm already plotting my gifties. Before moving on though, let's finish up with the Mardi Gras swap, shall we?

For Karin's pups, I knitted some Fetch! toys. I made these with yarn and polyfil from my stash, so they didn't add to my swap limit.
I did splurge a bit on the food, but had a free coupon the Penzey's cajun spice. The tea is by fellow local knitter Listens2Nature, which she sells in her store.
I knew I'd ask Suzanne to make some stitch markers, and she once again blew me away.

My friend Matthew of the Unceasing Fabulosity used to make lots of homemade MG beads every year. He's currently obsessed with making beads for the Coney Island Mermaid Parade, but he raided his stash and sold me a few older pieces.

One of the great things about living in a town with MG is that I was able to score all this cool loot at the dollar store, thanks to a tip from Tammy and Fiona.

Finally, I added a skein of silk from Dyeabolical (I have 2 skeins myself) by Rachel and made my large project, these mittens.

Ann helped me with a few tips on improving my colorwork (especially after I threw my first attempt in the trash can). The photo has the mittens artfully spaced out because one mittens is large by 1/2". Not Ann's fault though.

All in all, I realize how much my friends helped me with this project, so I'm definitely open for tips and suggestions with the Alice swap.

Love the doggie toys. Bridget doesn't wear clothes but maybe she could use a bone shaped pillow, must knit and see!

For some reason, I had it in my head that you lived in Maine. I kept visualizing these mittens against the whitenss of a snowy woods in Maine, as in a Rob't Frost poem. I told everyone I knew that the mittens were going to Maine. Then, as I went to mail them, I realized they weren't going to Maine after all, so I'm super glad you like them anyway :)
