More Mardi Gras Yarn

Everyone loves the Chevron Scarf from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. I do too; it's gorgeous. It's not terribly exciting to knit, however. As a bonus, it's in fingering weight yarn on size two needles.

To be fair to the designer, I will admit that I tripled the width to make it more stole like. If I had cast on the original 48 stitches instead of 144, I would have 54" by now instead of 18".

I also might have fingers, hands, and wrists that don't crackle like drops of water in a skillet of bacon grease.

Clearly the answer is more yarn.

Today at the Knitorious inventory sale, I picked up three balls of Lamb's Pride bulky (in purple, green, and gold, natch). My scientific brain has ascertained that varying between fingering and bulky, between 2s and 9s, will put less stress on my hands.

That's the theory at any rate.

Wow, I really feel for you knitting such a wide chevron scarf!

I've made two for other people, and when I think about making one for myself, I just can't work up any excitement. So many hours working on those scarves...
