One of these years I will learn to pace myself.
I returned home from the great booze up yesterday and was directed to look in the mirror. There, clear across the bridge of my nose, was a stripe of margarita salt.
Welcome to my life.
I have knitted two entire scarves between 8:30 p.m. last night and 11:00 a.m. today, and I managed a good night's sleep to boot.
I know, of course, that I cannot keep up at this pace, even though I'm facing several days of relatives and need the refuge of knitting. I did not do Christmas knitting, but I do have three projects to start and finish and a pattern to write up by the kick off of Carnival season on January 6.
One of the shop's customers saw this year's Mardi Gras poster and said to me, "Why are they making it so early?"
Sigh. He's a Boston transplant, so one must make allowances.
Fat Tuesday (aka Mardi Gras) is the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. If you have a problem with Carnival being only 30 days long this year, if you have a problem with parading in 20 degree weather, if you think you do not have time for all your Mardi Gras knitting projects, you're just going to have to take it up with the Pope.
You can always hope it will be warmer the next time around.

I still have half a sock to finish for Christmas so naturally I crocheted myself a Mardi Gras scarf last night.
