As I was working up my needlework purses talk, I decided also to work up some sample swatches, which have quickly become actual purses. That's it for today, as I'm a bit rushed, but the one on the left is a fairly faithful reproduction (in progress) and the blue one is an experiment with what was called "purse stitch."

The more I thought about the original miser's purses I'd seen, the more I recalled that purse stitch seems to be used in the center third of the purse for flexibility and visibility. The ends are usually more solid.
