I am just starting to feel like I know what I'm doing when crocheting. I've been slowly working my way thorugh 100 Flower to Knit and Crochet, and have discovered that (as with knitting), there's basically only one or two stitches with a million variations.
Amigurumi, as complicated as it looks, is all done in single crochet. That's it. Single crochet. Really.
Having been given some cotton warp scraps* by Rachel, I decided to attempt a granny square or two. I thought it would be cute to do a few different color combinations and then crochet them together.

I realized though, that I haven't yet learned how to crochet things together, so I just kept going around and around my granny square until I ran out of one color.
Apparently, I still have a lot to learn.

Single crochet your squares together. There are other ways to join, but that works pretty well. If you hold backs together, you get a bit of a ridge at the front, and vice versa.
