I spent most of my seventh-grade math class with my nose buried in Jane Eyre. I shouldn't have. It turns out I need to know math after all. It also turns out that Jane ends up with a cripple who was blind, burnt, broke and who seriously did her wrong.
Faced with a pattern piece that was 80" wide, a layout guide that called for 88", an actual piece of fabric that was 108", and 13 tucks to make to get the seam down to about 33", I was stunned when I somehow figured it all out.
So far, so good. I even graded a bit, just to celebrate.

Holy cow! Math really is our friend. Oh, and the celebrating by grading? I am rather stunned by that.
