When we look for vintage knitting patterns, we usually think of women's things: boleros, mohair shrugs, angora collars, puffed sleeves, '30s tunics. There's some great men's stuff out there though.
I saw this sweater when we were in Memphis for Thanksgiving, and I love, love, love it.
The stitch pattern is really interesting, with a modified cable, and what looks like a knit into the stitch below, a stitch I really like.
The Lansky Brothers of Memphis outfitted Elvis with his early look, and this sweater was featured in Jailhouse Rock. Lansky's, which is still in business, offers a book with this sweater on the cover. You can buy the sweater as well, but I'm storing it in my I-could-knit-that-one-day mental file.
