We're Back

Somehow we managed to miss all of the latest ice storm in St. Louis. Of course, we did so by missing two flights out of New York City--cancelled due to the weather.

We had to stay another day. Darn. That meant we got to go to Zabar's for $3.50 nova lox sandwiches, salmon roe, St. Andre triple creme cheese, marble halvah, Russian pumpernickel, and other sundries. We also managed some Christmas borscht, blintzes, pierogies, and cabbage rolls at Veselka around midnight, and then the guys went off to an Irish session at a dive bar in Alphabet City.

After arriving in StL this afternoon on almost no breakfast, we stopped right away at Woofie's before heading home. I had a Big Daddy with the works, even the hot pepper. I haven't weighed myself yet, and I'm not sure I want to.

I'm talking so much about food because I'm in a self-imposed knitting hiatus of about three days now. When my hands are too crippled to knead the sore shoulders of the one I love, I've been knitting too much.

Of course, I used the time to plot my next knitting projects. First thing is to finish up the Red Scarf project. Then, I figured out what to make with my impulsive tri-colored mohair purchase. With my souvenir yarn, I plan to make Argosy. That ought to keep me busy for awhile.

Your second paragraph contains some of my favorite things! Nova lox sandwiches and St. Andre. Oh, St. Andre!

Hope your hands recover quickly - I think your souvenir yarn will look quite nice knit up as Argosy!

Also, I had not heard of this Woofie's before. Must check it out.

Take 170 to Page west. Make a right on Woodson and Woofies is on the left in about a block. Hot dogs with dignity.

Sounds like it was a fabulous trip!

You can see some pictures of what you missed on my blog. It sounds like your timing was perfect, as you got back here in time to miss the same storms hitting the east coast.
