Tassels and Trims

I've been trying to clean up my sewing room and find some missing things, a critical one being my tassel maker. I finally found it, and was able to finish two purses from a Godey's 1863 pattern:

I'm starting to feel much more comfortable with the quantities of trim on mid-century clothing and accessories. Some the tassels on original purses I've seen are actually larger than the purse itself.

I haven't quite figured out how to do the intricate tassels shown in the pattern, although I have to say, the tassels on originals I've seen tend toward the simple kind we're used to.

I also corrected the pattern for what I thought were errors. After the eyelet holes, the instructions seemed to switch to reverse stockinette instead of continuing in stockinette. I think it was an error, so I kept on in the same pattern. It came out looking like the engraving that way.
